Hi ~ My manual Honda Civic Hybrid '05 was experiencing low gas mileage, the shop says it's cause I need a new "air fuel sensor".

I did some quick searches and I can't figure out whether it needs "36531-PZA-A01" or "36531-PZA-L01". What is the difference between the two? Is one upper and one lower, or something? What should I ask the shop to slyly get more info out of them so I can replace it on my own?

Any trusted sources of where I could buy one cheaper than Magestic Honda?

Is there a fault code? Ask them why they think it needs a new one.

36531-PZA-A01 is the one I'm seeing on HondaPartsNow.com. Not sure why there are two, maybe two different brands built them.

Yes so they said "found codes for air fuel sensor, repair quoted at $477"

I also asked them for the codes but they didn't want to give them to me? Said that air fuel sensor was all the info I needed. I did hear them say "upstream" and that it wasn't an oxygen sensor. I hope that info helps.

Check engine light should be on then. Most parts stores will read codes for free. If the shop won't give you the code I wouldn't let them fix it.

36531-PZA-L01 is for California Emissions standards. 36531-PZA-A01 is the same part for the other 49 states.
