Son's 2007 civic is turning over, battery strong, all lights and all accessories working but it just will not fire/will not start—ideas? It is also stuck in park even with the key turned in the ignition easy enough to release it and put it in neutral using a key or flat head but why is it stuck is this related to the no start? There's some sort of factory security system that is disabling the vehicle maybe? There are NO after market electronics in the car.

sounds like an immobilizer thing. Any lights on the dash when you go to start? Also, original key?

Since you meantioned the shifter override, is it possible that it is not all the way into park? It won't start if you're not in park.
