Valve adjustment feeler gauge

Hey, I got these proto feeler gauge and I know I need 0.25 and 0.20 mm.

On my gauge it's written .020/.508mm and .025/.635mm. are these measures the same as the above? Thx

Thx

Re: Valve adjustment feeler gauge

Is 0.25 the same as .025? And same for 0.20 and .020mm.

Because all I see in specs are 0.25mm and my gauge reads .025mm was wondering if it's the same.

Re: Valve adjustment feeler gauge

so.. the specs for the R18 regarding valve lash is 0.18-0.22mm (intake) and 0.23-0.27mm (exhaust), both measurements taken on a cold engine. So, you have your specs right in the first post, since .20mm and .25mm sit happy in the middle of those specs.

If your feeler gauges are stating .508 and .635mm, they're going to be far too large to adjust your valve lash to spec. Your feeler gauges are .020 inch and .025 inch, respectively. Quite a bit off, there.

Feeler gauges you're gonna want to find should say .0015"/.2mm and .0098"/.25mm. The imperial equivalent for the .25mm one might say .01" instead of .0098"

25.4mm per inch, if you want to check my conversions.

Ya that's what I thought because the feeler gauge looked too thick. Couldn't ever push them in.

Thx

What's the equivalent of .025 in metric? And .020?

Or I should just buy a metric feeler gauge set.

Re: Valve adjustment feeler gauge

no lie, I have a complete set I used for valve lash adjustment, and it's all in a swiss army knife kinda setup.
what I have is similar to this one (if not the same exact set I have):

I'm also going off the assumption that your feeler gauges are .020-inch and .025-inch. In that case, the metric equivalents are as stated on the feeler gauges, 0.508mm for .020-inch and .635mm for .025-inch, are correct.

In case you were still confused...

Throw these numbers out, they are incorrect. As Riceboy stated .0015 inch (0.2mm) and .0098 inch (0.25mm) are the correct values.
