Noise

Hit here just put my summer tires back on my 2015 Honda Civic Ex . I now notice that when applying the brakes sometimes hear a springy noise and sometimes hear a noise that sounds like rubber rubbing. Don't remember this sound when had the winter tires on. Also doesn't always make the noise but would like to know what it could be.

Re: Noise

Yes torque to spec and went around 1 week after and redid and still the same. Any ideas of what it could be. How does one check springs etc.

Re: Noise

Maybe try rotating tires front to back and see if the noise follows. Swapping tires shouldn't really affect the suspension at all if you're driving the same.

Re: Noise

Hi there okay finally got a chance to take off the rear tires and on the passenger rear caliper there seems to be more play in it than the rear drivers side and could be pad little loose in there. Bolts seem to be all tight. Could the pins be worn out could one buy new pins and bolts for the rear caliper and see if this works or should the whole caliper be replaced . Where is a good place to buy these parts thanks.

Re: Noise

When the brake pedal is pushed does it tighten up? If the caliper is fully released there can be a little play.

It's possible the slider pins or caliper piston are bad. It's also possible the driver's side isn't releasing all the way and the passenger side is okay.

Re: Noise

Yes when brakes are applies everything tightens up and can't move anything all looks good. However when the tire is off and spin the rear driver side rotor it doesn't spin to easily. When spin the rear passenger side rotor spins very easy.
How can one tell it the caliper slider pins are ad and also the caliper themselves.

Remove the caliper. Do the sliders that the caliper mounts to slide in and out? If so they're good. For the caliper visually inspect the piston/boot. If the boot is ripped likely the caliper is bad. You can also have someone slowly push the brakes while you're watching the piston. If it moves it's likely okay.

Re: Noise

Okay fixed problem put new caliper pins in and put some brake lubricate on the brake pads ends and backs. Now car is quiet and brake aren't as spongy. Both sides pin around now when spinning rotor around not like before. Please close thread.

Re: Noise

It's the rust (2 mm on my car) build up on the edges of the drum rubbing the metal frame. Just chip off the rust grind it and paint the drums. Problem solved.

Re: Noise

Okay not sure what happened but after about 3 weeks slight noise starting to come back but not as much as before. I replace the caliper pins on both sides added new silicone grease and added brake lubricant on the back of the pads and the ends.
