I realize this is probably the first place you looked, but have you tried RockAuto? I've had the best luck finding small pieces on there.
eBay would be my next guess.

ah, carid used to be a sponsor of the site, so we know they are legit.
ah, merged your two threads into one, later on it gets confusing with two threads with different information.

Re: 1st gen parts needed
Man, my Google-fu is failing me right now. I didn't imagine it'd be this hard to find those bolts. Buuuutttt... I did find this site that specializes in first gen civic parts in case you need anything else. Who knows, maybe if you e-mail them, they may be able to hunt down either a) a set of them or b) proper dimensions so you can use something that'll work
Re: 1st gen parts needed
Thanks very much for looking, much appreciated, my preview car was from 1951, I could get bits easier for that than for my civic. I’ll give that place a call and hope for a miracle 👍
Re: 1st gen parts needed
Just spoke to a supplier who said he had a feeling that Honda may not have used stretch bolts back then and just because the head is alloy it’s not always the case that stretch bolts were used.
does any one know from experience if they are stretch or not ?

Re: 1st gen parts needed
I know the newer Hondas (90s +) don't use torque to yeild bolts, they just just normal ones, got a manual that gives you the procedure for the head bolts? That will give you clues if the bolts are torque to yeild or not
Re: 1st gen parts needed
I think I do have a basic manual, I’ll take a look. I have just spoken to a parts guy at the main dealers, he also seems to thinks they were not stretch bolts and advised me to contact Honda UK which I have just done, they’ll get back to me once they have an answer, I can only hope they are not stretch.
its annoying because the head only had to be removed in order to have a broken bolt from the thermostat housing removed 😕

Re: 1st gen parts needed
That’s what I’m thinking, I may not have a choice to be honest, 1 needs reshaping on the top due to rounding off slightly, I know where I can get that sorted. I’ll see what Honda Uk come back with 👍
Re: 1st gen parts needed
That’s a bad issue to have so far down the line. My local cylinder head engineer may have come up trumps for me yesterday, he’s been trying for a week to find an alternative used on a different car, got me a set for a Fiat which have the same thread and dimensions. Very helpful, fingers crossed it goes back together ok 👌
