Toyo Proxes, Nitto extremes, Yokohama Paradas, Kumho Ecstas...these are just some of the many performance tires available...it all depends on your driving style, ride quality and noise preferences, how much it rains where you live...you get the idea

Yoko Avid's and Dunlop SP Sport A2's are both quiet, smooth riding semi-performance tires that are fairly cheap too. They are definitely better than the stock Firestones in every aspect.

I have the kumho supra 712's and im outside of chicago so it gets wet all the time from rain and snowy for a good 1/3 of the year, we got a break in weather so i slapped my rims on, drove nice on the kumho rubber, then suddenly snowed. Surprisingly they held better than my stock rims in the snow. And as far as rain, i havent driven on any other performance tires, but let me just say that these things stick better on wet pavement once your moving than my stock ones did, although i did have a bit of adjusting my throttle from a dead stop in certain situations to keep my tires from slipping off the start. My best bets are that most any performance rubber is going to have the same characteristics, just make sure that they are all season performance tires is my best guess??? If it doesnt get too rainy and you most likely will never see snow, i would say go all the way and get the best set of dry weather tires you can, hold tighter to the pavement and slip less off the line. i could be wrong but thats the best i can think of.

I have the Kumho Supra 712's and I love 'em. They handle really well, and look sharp on my 17" rims. But, if you'd like, you can read customer reviews of different tires at the address below. Hope this helps ..

Cheers!
