Overheating issue
Overheating issue
To start off with I have a 1992 civix si with a d16z6 motor
Alright so the other day I was driving and I while I was stopped for a while I notice my temp gauge was slowly going up. I thought maybe the fans just weren't kicking in so once I got to speed it would cool down again, however it did the exact opposite and the gauge shot up as soon as I accelerated to hughway speeds.
Another thing I notice was that my car was idling better, it had previously idled really low when the car was at operating temp in warm weather.
I'm thinking that maybe my thermostat went bad and it's just stuck in the closed position, but beyond that I am lost.

Re: Overheating issue
Before you replace anything.
-Check the coolant level (there could be a leak)
- take it for a rip and make sure that the fans are actually turning on.
-If no fans then there is an electrical issue.
If the fans are functioning and the level is full thenswap the thermostat, but test it first. It's easy to test, just Youtube it (place thermostat in pan of water on stove).
At that point if you are still haing issues and nothing looks broken then check the water pump.
