'06 civic accessory belt won't turn but motor runs

My engine started making a very loud noise last night. While driving home, the noise got real bad and I found that my accessory belt is not turning, but the motor runs. Anybody have any clues what might be going on? I have been having some problems starting the car lately but the battery is pretty new and no engine lights or codes showing up. Could this be the alternator locked up or a pulley?

Something seized.

Take the belt loose and then turn items by hand to locate.

Got to be one HELL of a sound.

I found the idler pulley to be frozen. About to change it out but there is so little room to work.

Thanks.

If you need more space (&I remember correctly) You should be able to remove the passenger tire and plastic fender thing.

Assuming you have jack stands that lift it high enough to get under it that way.

I unbolt the engine mount and jack the engine up or let it down as needed.
A LOT of room can be gained that way.
