Angry how do i remove the governer

Hello i have a 1990 honda civic hatchback dx special and for some reason the car wont top 95 it went to 100 but bumped it self down please tell me where and how to remove the governer and rev limiter thank you

You lost top speed, that's not a governed problem unless your redline/fuel cutout has been lowered.
Loss of maximum demand power is probably your problem.


Depending on how I felt it acted when I drive, I might:
Check air filter or inlet restriction.
Check exhaust backpressure (as in clogged cat).
Check for fuel starvation.

I checked the air filter and no exhaust clog. I dont know what to do

How did you check the exhaust?


Does anyone really drive 100? On a good day, 85-90 seems to be tops on the toll roads nearest me.
What's the speed limit there in your area, anyway?

70 on our highways i found it out when people where chasing me. I was raised as acmachanic and i can hear problems and the exhaust is virtually bran new

What about the catalytic converter, has it become restricted? (That's why the backpressure test, new doesn't mean good.)

Was 100 the best it could do before?
Different tires now?
Were you running into a headwind on that day?
