91 civic blower motor replacement
91 Civic DX - no air. Heater blower motor replacement help.
I've isolated the problem to the blower motor. I can see the three hex-head screws that hold it in. One can't be reached by any normal means.
From what I've seen posted about, even if I got them loose there is not enough clearance to remove the motor (True or not?)
I have found lots of posts by several others facing this problem, but no helpful answers or pointers to youtube videos etc for how to replace the motor.
Are there any tricks to do it without pulling the blower assembly?
If not, any pointers to instructions on how to pull the blower assembly?
I searched this forum and found some helpful advice from ezone, but it was for a later model with a different design blower motor.
Anyone out there know how to do this?
Thanks.

That's old enough I may have never touched one.
Can you gain room by pulling the carpet down?
There's gotta be an easy way without pulling the entire housing. The motor replacement job was only worth a whopping 20 minutes under warranty.

Re: 91 civic blower motor replacement
OK- but '91 is past the last carburetor (87) and I know you have rebuilt a ton of those after the ethanol fuel first became required :-)
Seriously- knowing that it is a 20 minute job under warranty is a pretty big clue that there must be an easy way to get to the hex-heads that hold the motor in.
Motor and blower come out as one piece, then the blower gets relocated to the new motor and re-inserted in the housing.
I didn't find any good postings on this, but I found several other people researching the same thing :-)
Thanks for help

Re: 91 civic blower motor replacement

I've only been with this particular dealer since 2003.
When I started getting into cars, fuel injection in cars was just a passing fad. I was rebuilding carbs back in those days......done a ton of them, many different types...
But I don't ever want to admit that now at work.
I wasn't dealing with Hondas problems much back in their carb days.
(I remember LOL@Gasohol bumper stickers proudly displayed on them while in the shop getting carb overhauls though)
I do remember several gas tanks rusted out in late 70s Accords.
after the ethanol fuel first became required :-)
The marketing geniuses realized that too many people are still alive that remember the bad things the alcohol did to fuel systems back then, so they decided to call it something new and different LOL.

Erm... 1/4"drive flexible carb adjusting tool?

I actually still have one of these LOL, it was my very first purchase from the Snappy tool truck.
Every once in a while it still comes in handy for something.
