Gauge cluster question!
Gauge cluster question!
I have a bone stock 2000 honda civic dx. (manual transmission) The gauge cluster does not have a tachometer (RPMS)
Is it true that I can take a 6th gen EX (vtec?) gauge cluster and directly swap them out without any wiring? does it mater if its auto or manual?
I was unable to find the answer to this question and I do not want to install an aftermarket tachometer (they look "tacky")
** if this is true is there anyone that wants to sell me a EX gauge cluster? I have paypal ready.

Re: Gauge cluster question!
What I did was look at peoples guage installs or removals to get an idea of what wires needed to be present and pulled my dash out to see. But from my understanding it should work. Yours is still a 6th gen in 2000. I also read somewhere that when you pull the dash out, if the wire you need isnt there, its taped up farther back in the dash. My new guage cluster is on its way!
EDIT* As I looked in to it. there is a small difference in the auto and manual guages. The auto has the indicator of what gear youre in on one of the gauge pods. So before you buy check that. I have no idea if one out of a V-tec would cause problems. Missed that the first time i read through it

Re: Gauge cluster question!
I believe it should fit no problem just make sure to get a manual trans cluster and as for an extra plug or so I've also heard that it could be taped up away out of sight just peek around
Re: Gauge cluster question!
There is only one different wire clip if you put an automatic in a manual there will be an orange clip that's is just for the lights to let you know your in gear. Don't worry about installing that everything else just clips right in
