How to make a P06 OBD1 ECU work on a ZC SOHC NON-VTEC 1.6liter
I have been stuck with a stubborn engine issue where the car acts like it is hitting rev limiter when slowly pushing the throttle in but as the pedal is pressed further in, it would run fine. I also have a CEL#14 that will not go away no matter how I reset the ECU and relearn the idle. As I further investigated on these ZC motors, I found that I have a D15B7 (P06-A52) ECU which is the culprit of the idle and CEL issue. The reason for the issue was because the engine was not getting enough fuel and air mixture at the right time since it is a ZC 1.6 liter engine that is getting a 1.5 liter fuel/air map. If you come across a ZC motor, just remember this for all bone stock engines;
1) All ZC engines are 1.6 and NON-VTEC.
2)ZC came in SOHC and DOHC.
3) All ZC engines are JDM and were never built in US or Canada.
I know someone on here will disagree with me on some facts that I have pointed out but I will say this. I have a current P28-A06 (D16Z6) ECU that I connected to my OBD1 harness and found that it corrected all my problems. I do have CEL#21 and CEL#22 because a ZC motor is NON-VTEC. I also want to note that the car is AUTO TRANSMISSION and is drivable with the ECU but gear timing seems to be off alittle since the tranny is 4SPD not 5SPD. It is not causing any damage to the engine and it is a strong motor.
Now that you have a understanding of my situation since you read this far; I want to know if anyone here knows anyone who can make my P06-A52 (D15B7) ECU to become NON-VTEC and get the fuel maps from the P28 (D16Z6) ECU onto the P06. I know I will have to chip the ECU but I do not have soldering skills and the know-how-to with CHROME or UBERDATA to get this ECU to run right with my 95 CIVIC. I am located in Indiana so if you can help me out in anyway I greatly appreciate it and would like to see more people pick-up these great enginesthe for the simply fact that they are cheap and hardly anyone wants to deal with them because they are hard to identify. We can together erase all the confusion and evolve a new life for these engines and build great gas savers and moderate powerhouse!
