Oil In Spark Plug Chamber

Hey everyone. New to forum 1st post. 95 CX hatch with D15B8. I have oil on my plugs and wires. I am planning on replacing the upper spark plug seals and the valve cover gasket. Does my particular engine also have lower spark plug seals as well? I understand this is more difficult than simply replacing the upper seals. 8 valve SOHC. Thanks

Yes, there's a set of 4 O rings between the upper and lower halves of the plug tubes. They harden and crack and let oil leak into the tubes.

You have to pull the rockers/rocker shafts and stands up to replace the seals. The whole assembly can lift up as a large unit, and you can bend the valves if you aren't careful putting it back together.

You need 1 of #17, and 3 of #16 from the pic above.
I've not found them in the aftermarket....
If you want the right parts on the first try, it's dealer only (IF you pick out the right parts. Many parts n00bs have no clue. Look up your own part numbers to make sure it's right.)

And a valve cover gasket set if it isn't already fresh.

Thanks for the detailed info. Now I just need to decide if I will tackle this myself.
