Drive Belt Tensioner 2007 Civic LX
Hi All,
I've been experiencing some noises over the past 2 winters when first starting my car in the morning. For the first few minutes of being on, and driving, the car makes noises. A few months ago, I diagnosed this as a bad passenger side motor mount. I replaced this, and one of the noises went away (excessive vibration noise) (this noise was also only noticeable in winter) , but now I still have some noise coming from the front right. I took my car to the Honda dealership to have them diagnose and they said the noise was "drive belt tensioner failing, recommend replace". They want $350 to do this.
I am wondering if anyone has experienced this. I have found the drive belt tensioner for 100. And I have found the bearings for $30.
Does anyone know if I need to replace the whole tensioner, or if I could just replace the idler pulley bearings, or if I could replace the whole idler pulley with new bearings ?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I also have a buzzing/grinding noise when cold temps on my 2010. Tried looking things over when it was doing it but could not see much though.
I figured it may be tensioner after seeing it common.

I'd probably just do the whole tensioner assembly, complete. 31170-RWK-025, looks like $80 at Majestic. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=CIVIC&catcgry 2=2007&catcgry3=4DR+LX&catcgry4=KA5AT&catcgry5=ALT ERNATOR+BRACKET+%281.8L%29
You need to replace the allen head bolt that holds it to the block, and it's critical to torque that bolt to 40 ft-lb.
Part # 96700-10055-18 is from one of the bulletins.
If you have to remove the water pump pulley bolts, they are torqued to 120 inch pounds.
