02 Civic Popped Radiator Hose/ No heat!?!?!
02 Civic Popped Radiator Hose/ No heat!?!?!
Ok I couldn't find this situation anywhere else on here. I have an 02 Civic LX. Driving around yesterday, I noticed that the temperature gauge started to get above 1/2, which NEVER happens. Within 5 minutes, it was in the red. I stopped let her cool off and got home (less than 2 blocks). Anyway, upon some looking, I noticed that the hose that comes from the radiator was popped off. I got the hose back on and filled back up with coolant. When I started it back up again, it did not overheat, but I had NO heat. It was blowing cold. Usually, within 5 mins its like a sauna in there.
So what Im wondering is
1) What would cause that hose to pop? Should I worry about it happening again?
2) What is going on with my heat?

Re: 02 Civic Popped Radiator Hose/ No heat!?!?!
You have a fat air bubble in your cooling system from having the hose pop off. Your heater uses hot engine coolant as a heat source, so without that coolant running through the heater core, you're gonna get no hot air.
Have a bottle (or the remnants of the bottle you used to fill the radiator) of coolant handy. Take your radiator cap off and start the car with full heat on. Refill your radiator as the level drops. Once level stops dropping, your coolant system should be (relatively) full. Recheck after a week or so of driving.
That, however, is only to fix your heater problem. As far as the hose popping off, could be a myriad of things. Your coolant system is a pressurized system at NOT, so without the hose secured with a hose clamp (or otherwise), it'll be likely to pop off due to the pressure.
