Winter rims offset

Hey guys, new to the forum and just bought my first civic yesterday! I bought a 2008 Honda civic coupe lx. I know this is been answered in a sticky but I just want to confirm . I know the regular tire size 205/55/16 fits on stock rim with +40 offset , I can pick up some winters off a 06 Mazda 6 with same tire size and bolt pattern for winter but they have a+55 offset? This won't damage anything ? Just cause wheel to be a tad sunk in?

Thanks guys

Re: Winter rims offset

You should be okay. As long as your keeping the stock tire size you have some play with the offset (10-20mm)

55 is way in - could it hit suspension parts?
