Fog question
Fog question
Okay so i got the ebay fogs and I'm not sure if they changed their wiring or i got a different ebay brand than everybody else got or what but I'm a little confused. In picture 1 everything is laod out. Picture 2 is a ground. I'm assuming it's the passenger ground or maybe a ground for both because there is no ground for drivers side to my knowledge. Picture 3 is the switch, the other end of the switch harness, an end of the main harness, and an extension? the end of the main harness plugs into the end of the switch harness, but the red wire also fits those connectors which makes me believe it's an extension. In picture 4 there is the relay, a fuse, and a wire that comes out of the fuse. It has a ground type connector on it, but it's red so that makes me think 12v constant? The other wire coming from the fuse goes into the relay. I plugged everything in, took a ground i had made for LEDs in the cabin and made sure everything I thought was a ground was touching and nothing happened when I pressed the switch, car on, off, acc nothing. I'm gonna mount them this weekend regardless but help with the electric before then would be great. The brand is Winjet in case anybody got the same ones.

Re: Fog question
The red wire in pic 4 looks like a + 12V. Usually fuses are put on the positive wire. The rest of pics look right. You should have 12v going to your switch, when the switch is turned on it sends the 12v signal to the relay which activates the coil inside closing the contactor and connecting the fog lights +12v to the battery.
Make sure your grounds are good (metal sanded down).

Re: Fog question
how do I connect that wire to the switch though? It has a ring connector on it. I mean I'm no stranger to splicing wires and taping the connection up but I'm assuming that ring connector is there for a reason
Re: Fog question
no but I can get one from a friend. And if the switch is connected to the relay then what do I do with that red wire coming out the fuse with the ring connector on it? The only thing I can think of is connecting it to the battery, but the connector in the fuse box is already connected to the battery and this red wire with the ring connector is nowhere near the battery so I don't know what to connect it to.
Re: Fog question
The voltage from the fuse box is probably for the switch. When you turn the switch on it sends that 12v signal to the relay which will activate it. Once activated the relay will take a +12v source from somewhere else like the battery. Can you see what pin on the relay that red wire with the ring goes to? It's probably to pin 30 or 87. It will tell you on the relay.
Re: Fog question
figured it out. I ran everything through the passenger firewall by cutting up the boot and connecting that ring connector to the battery and i had to rip the 12v constant wire out of the connector to plug it in to the fuse box for it to fit then everything else was self explanatory. First time around I was expecting to run everything through the drivers side.
