1999 Civic EX Engine swap from D16Y7 What to use? Help?

What motor should be the best for it? It's a 1999 Civic EX 4 door auto with a d16y7 in it now. Howmuch would it run for a engine swap. what motors would fit without and banging bending and all that ****? Would I have to swap trans? Computer and ****?

it depends on what engine you are swaping. if you get another d engine, you just pop it in and change/map the cpu. if you get something like...k engine, then you have to mount, rearrange, get new manifolds, and some ***** inside the hood and stuff. then the cpu as well. good luck

To be honest, if you have all these questions, I would suggest you continue researching. By now, people have swapped almost every Honda engine into Civics......its all about what you want, and what you are willing to pay for.

If you have an EX, you should have the D16Y8. The Y7 came in the DX/VP/LX/CX trims.......unless you are in Canada, then the EX came the the Y7.

And as far as engine swaps go, the most common are probably B16s and B18s. They are almost a direct fit, since the Civic Si came with a B16, and the Integra GSR and Type R came with B18s. The price all depends what you can find the engine/tranny/ecu/conversion parts for.

I'd suggest searching Honda-Tech for more info....they have everything you will ever need information wise.

This should get you started:
