Brake lights not working - wiring harness?

Please help. My brake lights are not working - not even the third (in the rear winshield). I tested voltage at brake pedal switch, and that is fine. Switch is also functioning. Fuses are working and the lights themselves are working. I took out the back seat to get to the wire harness in the driver side passenger door panel and I have access to the wire harness - I am thinking this is the issue. How do I test the wire harness to find out? Also, can I just bypass the wiring out of the harness? What if this does not work - what else could it be?

Nevermind- I saw a thread about bypassing the wire harness, so I cut the brake wire and bypassed the wire harness and it started working!!!
