Power door locks not working
Power door locks not working
I have a 4 door 05 civic, and I have an issue with the doors not locking and unlocking. Whether it’s with the keyless remote or the lock on the driver’s side door, two of the doors will not lock/unlock without physically having to hit the button on the door. My front driver’s side and rear right passenger side doors will work but the front right and rear left doors will not. I checked the fuse and it was fine. What could cause only two doors not to work? Also they both stopped working at the same time. I appreciate any help. Thank you

Re: Power door locks not working
If I received the car with ONLY 2 door locks inop, my first assumption would be 2 actuator motors weak or bad. I would probably get into each door to check for +/- right at each of the plugs for each actuator.
Then make my next decision.

Re: Power door locks not working
I had a similar problem with my car.
i think it could be a couple of things, if not more:
Like mentioned earlier by ezone, the accuators failed at the same time. unlikely but possible.
Perhaps the control that locks the car doors had a short circuit that affected only 2 pins in the connector, the ones for the FR and RL. in this case you would need to replace the control switch.
Now you also said that the keyless entry doesnt work either for the two inop doors.
So quite possibly if the signal from the keyless remote goes through the control switch (which it probably does?) perhaps it is the control switch that is not operating properly.
I would try replacing the control switch first before buyin two acctuators because they are a bit of a hassle to replace, and are a bit pricey. ~$70 at pepboys.

Re: Power door locks not working
2 locks still work with the switch? Switch cannot be bad. Switch is only a request input to the MICU.
Same for the fob. If it operates any of them, it is good. Keyless signals are sent to the MICU on a single wire communication circuit, data only.
A wiring diagram explains tons about how this particular system works (factory) if one can read a wiring diagram.
This problem is going to be lock actuators, wiring, or MICU.
In my mind, actuators are most likely, so that's where I would start testing....because I expect to take the door panels off anyway.
UNLESS someone hacked in an aftermarket keyless or alarm or something. Then all bets are off.

Re: Power door locks not working
One clue that helps is to watch the lock ***** speed when you FIRST use the keyless in the morning. If it moves slow and sluggish the actuator is on it's way.
The pulse when using the keyless is pretty short and will show the failing actuator. Lock/unlock button hits a little harder...and if you work the actuator once or twice it will work o.k. for a while.
