2004 1.7L Civic Starts but wont stay on.
I recently had a timing belt change on it, it worked fine for a day, and then all of a sudden died on me. I went back to the mechanic and no codes came up. The car starts and then dies right after. He unplugged the crank sensor and it works in limp mode(wont go past 3000rpm). But when its connected it dies after starting. He put a new sensor in and it was the same problem. I am running it without the sensor plugged in. Any ideas what it could be , it cant be the timing belt because it runs right now. He will try to change the cam sensor too now, because it works if neither sensor is unplugged. There is power to the sensors also.

I would check the timing. It's probably off a tooth. The cam and/or crank sensors are sensing it's out of time and are telling the computer to shut the car down to avoid engine damage. That's why it works when the sensors are unplugged. I'd have your mechanic check the timing before you blow money on another sensor or have someone else check timing that you trust.

Short answer:
The timing belt is out of time by at least one tooth or more.
Why? I don't know, I didn't do the job.
If it is not already at the shop, I'd suggest the mechanic have it towed to his shop, on his dime, so no further damage can occur.
This should be a warranty matter if this is a legit and reputable shop (or mechanic), since they JUST put the timing belt on and now it is out of time....
