2000 civc ex is an unknown quantity at this point

how do tell what Trans I have

Ok my Trans is messed up so I bought a used one, I was told a d15trans would work then was told it wasnt, the guy I bought it from said its a d15 is there a way I can double check??? I have a d16y8 in my 2000, and the d15 Trans is a 93

Any D-series transmission will work. Look for the vin plate on the transmission (assuming it wasn't stolen).
