Hardcoresteves final build. Results: great hp &mpg
Well, I think ive learned alot with my 05 civic vp. Ive been through a nightmare and ive had alot of fun too. Ive just come to a point where this car doesnt suit me anymore so I thought id list my final build info and what my goals were. Also my thoughts and feelings in general.
full d17a2 engine swap + ex ecu

Injected tranny mount oem, and energy suspension front and rear mount inserts
SUSPENSION:

otherwise stock suspension
AUDIO:
6 gauge power wire with inline fuse
Kenwood 8150d(i think) mono amp @ 2 ohms(ithink) either way rated at 500w continuous
Two 12" rockford fosgate punch (the new ones are better than they were)
the box has a barrier in the center from side to side
sony explode cdx-gt54uiw 54wx4 head unit
toggle switch for amp
Sorry im not super audio literate
Visual:
Gloshift cluster bezel with two gauge pods
Rpm analog 7 color with dim switch
Voltmeter analog 7 color with dim switch
Civic ex a/c dials and removed a/c button orange color panels
Custom made stainless brushed gauge cluster cover(can see in my youtube vid @ ragalyisp)
Removed rear badges and holes behind H filled
Aftermarket small rectangular fog lights in stock location
Otherwise stock look
Ill probably think of more to add, but thats basically it. Im raising two kids by myself so ive done this on a tight budget. I hold alot of pride in my work, and other than exhaust ive done it all by myself at home. ive put my hours in. swapping motors, rebuilding, and paying attention to every detail.
Overall its been a very unreliable car, but ive never given up on it. After all the mods ive reached my goals. I left the computer and tranny the way they are because ive gained about 50 hp over my original d17a1 and im getting 36mpg all city driving short trips. And I dont baby it.
I wouldve liked to do more, but ive come to a point where I just need more room for my kids. Im looking at getting either a wrx wagon or a lincoln ls v8 used.
I planned on doing more with the suspension and possibly getting the hondata, and high comp pistons and converting to a standard fuel system. It just hasnt been practical.
Well I gotta leave for work, I may add to this later. Thanks yall

good luck with whatever new car you go with. i kinda feel the same way with the civic being a good car to learn stuff but in the end you always want something better.
Re: Hardcoresteves final build. Results: great hp &mpg
well the biggest thing to me is that ive actually improved hp & fuel mileage at the same time. I have no dyno, but it pulls harder off the line, and up top. 3rd gear is a big difference. I noticed it most when I started using the a/c. Stock I had to turn the a/c off if I was stopped uphill at a light or it would bog n stall out. Now I can go half throttle n it goes fine. I can go up a hill in 4th Or fifth too. Before I had to drop gears just to get up some of the roads around here. I started around 34 mpg and ended with 36. And thats with the extra weight of the audio. I think the added power causes less strain on the motor to move the car. Same thing we learned with the chevy blazers in the 80's and 90's. The 4.3 was the biggest option, but got the best mileage.

Yea some people would rather critisize than learn. Im just rying to share what I know before I leave the site for good. Ive put together what ive learned from those like speedfoos who took time to email me and give me wiring info , and suggestions, and some of my friends who work on nascar and know the little tricks etc. plus what I know myself.

great to see your list.
It's not what i would have done on a D17A2, and personally i started with suspension.
waiting to see the rest of what you have
sad to see you leaving
