What is this? black cylinder underneath fuel filter

I have a 97 hatch cx and wondering what the cylinder shaped thing underneath the fuel filer is for, and what it connects to...?

still pretty new to this stuff...

Are you talking about the fuel pump? post an image to see what exactly you are asking about.

I don't know what your talking about since I never had one of those cars but I will have to guess its the charcoal canister.

YES, the charcoal canister, i googled what you meant by that and it matches what im trying to figure out. Do you know by any chance where it connects to? I have one tube that isnt connecting to anything....
