D2 coilover issue...with tie rod please help

Alright i need some info on some tie rod ends... my stock tie rod ends dont work to well with the after market D2 rs coilovers the issue i have is that when the tie rod is pushed down and the castle nut is tighten it seems that the thread end up short and dont put enough pressure to tighten the tie rod... and in turn there is some play on the wheel and i am able to move the wheel left and right and shimmys at 55mph.... ive tried to install some washers to take up space and it did not really help any are there any aftermarket tie rods that fit our cars with more threads? thanks for the info

Your explanation was a little foggy. Seemed like you were implying at first that you dont have enough threads to tighten the outer tie rod. Then you mentioned washers? But you also did say you have play in the steering wheel?

Im on my second D2 RS setup so i understand everything you are saying. You might be missing the little inserts that go in the steering arm of the coilover (the part that your tie rod goes through). This might cause the play. I think DC5 and EP3 outer tie rods have thicker diameter bolts?

I had to run up to chapel hill in NC to their office to snag a pair myself. They have an office in CA.

I however, ran into a completely different problem with these. Have you tried to align the car yet? My toe is MUFFED up

Oh ok that makes sense steering arm inserts might be my issue... that may be why i have play in my wheel when i rock it back and forth, which is the same way you would check for a bad hub bearing test...

sorry if my story seemed foggy yes i thought the nut was bottoming out before it can tighten itself fully to the coilover... for example if i were running the nut in when a 3/8air gun when tighten i thought there were enough threada to fully tighten it therefore i thought there might be some after market ones that may work... i was using washer because if u look at the outer tie rod end after the last thread it bevels out and then the boot is there and the housing of the tie rod itself,so what i was doing with the washer was taking up the space of the bevel piece of the tie rod so that all that remains is the thread when passing it through the steering arm instead of the bevel piece where it bottomed out... im goin to have to take pictures if those inserts dont work... how else can i get a hold of some? wonder why my d2s didnt come with them..thanks for the info though i appreciate it alot

Not a problem at all. Stuff like this during upgrades just makes it that much sweeter when you get it perfect.

But you will have to take pictures so i can better understand what exactly you are doing. Let me just try to explain what im dealing with.

I put on the D2s and then switched bays straight to the alignment rack. On the front end I soon discovered (and quickly learned) that after the drop all sides of the cars geometry is completely out of wack. I adusted the camber as close to 0degrees (only running 195s) as i could {0.3} and then moved on to toe. WOW. From the drop the toe is now negative (outwards) drastically. It was very difficult for me to drive into the bay from the other. When adujusting the toe more positive (inwards), I ran out of threads from the inner tie rod and disconnected from the outer tie rod before I could center the wheel. I am making a metric female to male piece that will make an extension. (~1inch). I wouldnt use washers though.

Hmm then perhaps they fixed this issue. I had bought a used pair first, and learned they wire like 1st gen products. I sold them and now have the new black/purple. Maybe i dont need it anymore. The steering arm angle is the issue.

Anyways, yeah snap some pics. Ill try to remember to call tomorrow. Call the guys in NC. They answered both times i tried around 4pm
