Green key on dashboard
first: 2001 honda civic coupe manual...My car has a green key flashing on the dash board, an wont go away, just keeps blinking. i feel it is preventing me from being able to start my car, i got a brand new battery. it turns over an all. but wont ignite. is this some sort of security code??? please help
Re: Green key on dashboard
hey, not a hundred percent sure, but I know that green blinking key has something to do with the theft device on the car (that's what it means for my car, I have a 2004 Civic EX) also known as the immobilizer. It involves the computer chip inside the key itself. For some reason it seems your car is having problems with the system that detects the key or the key itself. Since you recently changed the battery (and that's when the problems started), it must have something to do with the car and the theft device/computer. It makes sense since the car still cranks over but does not actually start. I don't know why you are having problems just by changing the battery. Nothing should have happened, but check it out anyway.
