unfor... racen accident
all i have today is a short air and a cat-back and i pulled up next to a 02 jetta 1.8t at the light. of course looking at my ride he starts reving his engin. so i sayed lets go and i dusted him. well stayed a head of him any ways. then we started to come up to a light and witch cruves to the left some. but not to bad. but the kicker is that, right when it cruves there is a nasty dip. and this guy was so mad that i beat him then let off after not realizeing i'm running at 95 that he kept going. and in doing so he hit that cruve and dip doing 120 and lost control spining around twice and slaming the left rear door and rear into a pole. i mean this car hit the pole and hopped about 2 feet in the air. this guy is a moron for flying into down town like that. he and his passanger where OK the side impact bages help. but as far as the car....gone...............the car had 3200 on it.......it just goes to show u if ur one of the poeple like me that race off of street lights some times not to get carried away and see how fast we realy can go.....

For the 500th time, participating in a street racing contest is ILLEGAL and can result in costly property damage to not only your own vehicle as well as other vehicles, but to municipal property damage such as telephone poles, etc. In New York State, if I (or any other officer) catch people racing, we are entitled to: call a tow to the scene and impound the vehicle, in addition to arresting the driver for reckless endangerment and participating in a street racing contest, as well as anything else that the individual may have done. This results, at the very least, in thousands of dollars in fines, a suspended drivers license for a minimum of six months and can have adverse affects on your insurance rates (go up, or very likely to have policy terminated), a criminal record and a poor driving record. "But no one else was on the road," is not a defense and is nothing more than an immature, selfish and childish statement.
Traffic laws exist for a good reason. Please obey them and drive safely.
And that's the cop's two cents...

qcksilvr, what is legally considered street racing? i often try to beat slow people at lights in 2 downto 1 lane situations (theres a lot of them around here), but if they want to race, i let them go since theyll more than likely be going at least as fast as i want to be going. i dont floor it or anything, and i usually dont even take the tach too high (often 3-4k, but if its an old guy in a fast car or something ill go higher if i have to, but i dont take it all the way to redline)
SPEED CONTEST--willingly and intentionally engaging in a racing competition with one or more vehicles on a public roadway/highway.
I had made a mistake in my earlier post, it is not a six month suspension. It is a six month revokation. A revokation completely cancels ones license and requires them to retake all written/road tests after the revokation period, wheras a suspension places a hold on the license.

HEY, some of you guys me to tell me you never and i mean never so called raced off a light or a stop sign, BS. Just to clear some thing up i don't ever go that fast on city streets it was the first time and the last and yes it was a 1.8t and he drove it well while we just putted down the road for a few feet. As far as me being involved i was slowed back down to the speed limit about a 1/8mile from him when he started loseing control then i speeded up to him.

You made a good point about not getting carried away. If you're going to race, and a lot of us do, race to 60 or 70. There is no reason to go any faster. I started to race an s10 the other night, and we were even through redline in second. I stopped and just let him go. Racing may never be a good idea, but all the people around here who have modded vics and act like some little priss saying, "no, I would never do such a thing", are full of sheite. Not everyone, but a lot. I recked several cars, well tore them up, when I first started driving. I know my car's limit and I know what can happen when you push it. The bottom line is to not get caught up in the moment and allow yourself to hit rediculous speeds. Well, that and don't go around curves too fast!
Hey insan: call this number: 1-800-WHERE'S-MY-CLOSEST-LOCAL-TRACK!!! Hey, I know we all get the urge, but in the big scheme of things safety is pretty paramount. Check out the SCCA region in your area and put your and your car's skills to work in a safe environment where you can enjoy all the adrenaline pumping action you can muster. Sometimes you just gotta let the other fool rev his motor and go away. Be safe brother!

ok...i know!!!!!!! i should take it to a track. but i also know for other poeple reading this racen is dangerous i don't care how good of driver you are. ok now thats out of the way. Familyman...i used to do solo one when i lived in ct. at lime rock. but the track closest to me now is about 2 and half hours away. just a little to far for me. I also agree with Mbow racen to the speed limit isn't a bad idea if and i mean if your going to do it.
