Question D17 to B18A1 (possibly A2)

A few months ago I came across a .PDF I had on an engine swap. I lost it, and it's not on the computer. It was part list, and step by step on the swap from a stock D17 in a '03 Civic EX to a B18. Does anyone have it, or know where I might find this. I got a B18 I can buy, but I need to get this to get the work done. I got a buddy helping me out who has done civic swaps on his own cars, but never for a '03 civic.

You do know its illegal to drop a motor in a car that the motor is older then the car

You'd also need custom parts, the only engine you can practically swap for is an a2 or k-series.

Re: D17 to B18A1 (possibly A2)

and for the amount of time and money it would take to swap in a b series. you might as well swap in a k series, a lot more power in a k series then b series

Re: D17 to B18A1 (possibly A2)

Actually.. B series has almost equal power to a K20. However, a K20 is a far more advanced engine and has more potential per say. But, everything is arguable.

the only advantage to a b-series is cheap parts and tuning options.

I also looked into doing a swap for my civic (02 LX) and if you don't have the money for a k20a I would get a k24 from an accord, and then the k20 head would go right on top of it later on whenever the budget allows . I velieve you could get an accord engine for around 700 bucks or so ( that's engine only)

Re: D17 to B18A1 (possibly A2)

stupid n00bs. you can't put a bseries in a 7thgen. END OF TOPIC

and you can argue "well yes you can technically you can put any motor in"

and here's where I say "why don't you throw a viper motor or an ls1, or sr20 or a 2jz or a really good motor in if you're going to be doing a stupid amount of fabrication and wiring" While you're at it maybe swap a jseries in there. Bseries and Hseries have each been done once but its a stupid swap. You don't go backwards with technology. You don't see people swapping pentium 2 processors in their new computers or pulling out dvd nav head units to swap tape decks.
