Swap Out Engine
Hello,
I need some help or subjection. I would like to replace my 2000 Honda Civic EX Vtec 5 Speed Engine. The Engine is bad so please help me for the following questions that I can not answer at all due to my car limited knowledge.
1. Can I use any Engine of the 1996-2000 Engine or just only 1999-2000?
2. Does the Engine of the EX, LX, DX, and HX difference?
2. Does the Automatic Engine and Manual Engine difference?
3. Are there any differences for the Engine Mounts between the Manual Engine and Automatic Engine?
Please list all of the difference parts in here for me and also give me some subjection if you can.
Thanks.

Re: Swap Out Engine
1. 1999-2000 only i believe...look up hondas model for that engine (go to wikipedia) and see what the numbers are for the earlier model engines. if its the same u can use it.
2. no they have the same engine...however if ur looking for performance get a 2000 civic si engine (dohc vtec b16a2 engine) minor modifications might be neccessary like modifying the harness but would be worth it.
3. engines are the same transmission are different
4. engines are the same same mounts but transmission may sit differently.
best bet for you im guessing is hit up your local junkyard and see what you can find...even one with more miles is fine as long as theirs no dammage because while u have the engine out u should take it apart and clean it or even better get a rebuild kit ~$100
