buying 1991 hatchback says it smokes a little?
Im going to possibly buy a 91 hb civic. 4cyl 4spd , I am assuming its a d15? has 192,000 miles on it and has been lowered with a body kit the guy says it has little honda rust and burns a little oil. Possible PCV issue? bad rings? idk yet but do these cars have any problem areas I need to check out ? Im a mechanic but this is my first honda and no pun intended but its pretty foreign to me
haha any words of wisdom would be sweet. BTW the price is only 1000 bucks

-If it's smoking check for a bad headgasket first. Then do compression and/or leakdown tests as needed. If it has compression loss don't pay more than $500 'cause it's gonna cost $500 for another engine.
-Ask when the timing belt/ water pump were last changed. They should be changed between 60-90K.
-Ask about any mods. A popular mod for this gen is to go from DPFI to MPFI (dual-point to multi-point fuel injection).
-May want to try pulling any codes also: http://check-engine-light-codes.blog...retrieval.html
-"Honda rust" is usually around the rear wheel wells and/or along the runners.
-And, of course, look at the tranny fluid if it's an auto. If it was me, I wouldn't buy an auto that old.

Lazlong covered it very well.
The first thing I would check is the springs, people who put body kits on older civics often cut the stock springs or use ebay junk, not good quality parts.
