2004 Honda Civic LX Sedan Rear Speaker install question

Hey all, long time reader, first time poster. Found several threads with DIY guides to install rear speakers in a 7th gen sedan, but I was wondering if it was essential to have a speaker adapter?

I found this one on amazon, but it does not provide a very detailed explanation.
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-SAH6-2.../dp/B001GQ2QR2

Please help me out here, I already learned and installed a new head unit thanks to this site.

Is a speaker adapter necessary to install rear speakers? If so, is this one adequate where I will not have to drive new holes or anything? Thanks

you shouldnt need one. i had full size infinity 6.5 speakers in the rear and they just screwed in the hole.

Sweet! and I'm guessing there weren't any problems with rattling or anything?

Oh and this is still useful right?

Re: 2004 Honda Civic LX Sedan Rear Speaker install question

it would prolly help to put dynamat around the speaker hole before installing, that way there is no metal-metal contact. speaker plugs yeah its useful.

Just ensure that the magnet clears the opening and nothing is touching it. Other than that it's all plug and play. Super simple stuff breh. So long as the female connectors on stock wires are small/big enough to secure a connection on the +/- terminals on the speakers.

gearbox, what do you mean by "full size" infinity 6.5 speakers? Perhaps the Infinity "Reference 6032si shallow mount"?

This is for my 7th gen Civic sedan rear. Crutchfield lists only 5.25" for the rear but I'd prefer to put in 6.5" even if a little fabrication is necessary.

For 4dr, 6.5's fit, but may need to remove trunk springs based on the mounting depth of the speaker.

Re: 2004 Honda Civic LX Sedan Rear Speaker install question

yeah by full size, i meant NOT the shallow mounts. those shallow mount are half the thickness and sound lousy in most cases. you really want to get the full size normal speakers. i had 6.5 infinity in my car front and rear at one point and there was plenty of room. and i have a sedan.
