pull slowly, and use water mixed with dish soap to help loosen the grip from the tape

Might want to try giving it a bit of heat too to soften it up first, something like a hair dryer or if you have it a space heater would work in your garage, just put it in front of the car for a bit till the room heats up and the bumpers / sides just dont put it too close to the car.

Rub the thick parts off with your thumb, then use something like goo gone to get whats left.

Hrm... I work at an auto detailing shop, and we use something called Hot Solvent. It smells, feels, and burns just about like lighter fluid, but I wouldn't try lighter fluid. Check your local... chemicals store. Investing in a bottle is really worth it. It can get anything off of a car that isn't supposed to be there. Just remember to go back over the spot with water, for the hot solvent will eat paint when given time.

take a piece of fishing line, double it up and run it between the body kit and the car. this should essentially "cut" through the tape which will allow you to take the kit off. then, use some goo-gone or adhesive remover to get the remaining tape off. you might need to use some heat to soften the tape up before you use the fishing line but, if you do this, be extremely carefull not to heat up one single area long enough to damage the paint.
