Engine/Camshaft Help 1992 DX 4 Door

I plan on buying a 1992 4dr sedan dx from this guy where i live. he said he swap it for a '99 vtec but he does not know what the model is like b16,d16 etc. and he said i might need a new camshaft but the car does still run ! So how can i find out what type of engine this guy has in this car im planning on buying ?

The block is that square orange piece right ? Where exactly is the code on top of the block or the sides
