99 Civic lower oil leak???
99 Civic lower oil leak???
Just picked up a 99 civic EX auto with 98K miles and SUPER CLEAN. Everything is perfect except a small oil leak from the lower portion of the moter. Lifted it up today to take a peek and seems to be coming from where the engine mounts to the trans. This commen? I get its high miles but was woundering if something else from that area tends to leak?
Thanks for any help

Re: 99 Civic lower oil leak???
if its coming from where the engine mounts to the trans that that is likely a rear main seal leak, its not a terrible thing to change but the trans will have to be dropped in order to do it, which if you can do it yourself is not so bad, if you have to pay a mechanic then it can get costly. Are you running synthetics or natural oil?
Re: 99 Civic lower oil leak???
minimum 6 hours labour to remove trans, replace seal and reinstall, most shops will charge you around 8 to do it so judge accordingly this is just for labor not parts.
