new here......got a A/C problem...it died
my wife's 02 civic's A/C killed over on the way home today. it was blowing fine then it quit. changing the levels and settings caused a little air to linger but now its done.........nothing. the defrost, recirculate, and A/C button lights work. the heat is not working either.
i have checked all the fuses under the hood and the dash. all of them are good. there are a few fuse/relays that i dont quite understand how to check in the under hood box. the large black ones and the really big metallic ones i have left alone since i am not that tech saavy.
i also read that it could be the blower motor but again, you guys would know better than i.
thanks in advance to those that may help me out!

You can look down in with the cabin filters out and see if the fan runs.
See if it runs for a second when 1st switched on.
If so...much info here on the subject.

i tested the transistor, as well as the transistor and blower motor connectors. both gave me an ohms reading when i tested them with a multi meter.
this is such a pain in the

that small amount of air is just natural wind blowing thru the ducts from outside when you are moving fast. has nothing to do with the electric part. did you check the blower motor relay?
Re: new here......got a A/C problem...it died
i'm going to take a stab in the dark and pick one up today. they are only 10 bucks and i can return it if need be. other than that i am stumped. resistor seems to be good. the blower motor never made any noise or give a warning it was going bad so i am going on the assumption it is cool as well. other than that i am stumped.
Re: new here......got a A/C problem...it died
well i picked up a relay last night and returned it today. it wasnt the problem. i ordered a resistor while i was at auto zone since it was the best price i could find. hopefully my luck will get better.
is there a fuse i may have overlooked either under the hood or under the dash?

Yes, it actually turns for like 3 secs whenever I turn the car on or when I turn the ac/heater on for the first time while the car is running, but nothing comes through the ducts tho. Just the fans that sit on the radiator turn for that short period of time

The fan running for a short bit when 1st turned on has been mentioned by someone before. It turned out to be the transistor or the safety device on it (TCO) had opened.
The info is here and some links possibly, You can replace the transistor as a unit $35-45 (approx) or replace the open TCO.

Ok, where is the transistor located and what is the TCO, my bad, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to electrical stuff... or engine stuff for that matter lol. I'm just trying to get it done cheap and quick, it's my daily driver and it sucks during the day, it's so hot outside

Oh, my bad, I've just seen the other thread you posted on about this subject, so I know what the TCO does, but do you know how I should go about getting the transistor? Is there a part number for it, and can i get it from Auto-zone? Or do I have to get it from Honda? Thank you

Re: new here......got a A/C problem...it died
Hey thanks for all the help man, I dunno what I would've done if you wouldn't have told me what it might be. Lol, actually I would've prolly spent a lot of money at some shop that would rip me off. Hey, one more thing tho, before I go and spend money on the shipping, I found a transistor at autozone also, and if I special order it at the store, they won't charge me anything bc it would be a store pick-up, but just wanted to double check to make sure it's the same part? Here's the link, they actually have 2 diff models

Shipping will offset savings online, you may have to pay full msrp... but I would get it from Honda. I hate 3rd party parts, and it's only $10-15 more for OEM.
