Honda OEM Touch-Up Paint, Y/N?

Got two big scrapes on the front and rear bumpers of my '04 Civic - Fiji Blue Pearl - that were done by the previous owner and they're really bothering me (yes, I'm very OCD) and I was wondering if the OEM Honda touch-up paint would be good at at least hiding the scratches... it's a 6 year old car = paint fade, so would this be a good idea? I really don't want to make it look worse than it does now. Anybody had previous experiences with the OEM paint or should I just take it to a shop to get refinished?

PS. I'm not looking for a concours-quality finish; just something that makes the scratches/scrapes less visible. I can't afford a professional job at this time.

Thanks in advance Pics will be posted tomorrow if needed.

If you search around then you should be able to find reviews on a few different touch up paints on this site, some match better than others. I would personally either leave the scrapes, get the whole bumper repainted or repeatedly brake check until someone hits you so ICBC can pay for it.. Touch up paint never really matches that well..

Have you tried having a shop buff it out?

I'm from Vancouver also, welcome.

paint is better than black so idk. prolly worth a try if you cant afford a repaint. if its a large area, try using a foam pad to spread the paint on the area. may have to do a few coats. then use some polishing compound to try and blend the paint. it sometimes works okay depending on the area. the whole side lip on my roof was peeling and i was able to get it looking pretty good with foam pad and touchup paint. i keep wanting to get the car repainted, but i always think like it will just get messed up again. and usually it does.

Awesome, fellow Vancouverite! Forgot to mention my dad - driving my Civic - was hit by an asian lady talking on her phone.. left a dent and big white scratch about the size of a foot on the drivers door.. she admitted fault and we're probably going to see an ICBC adjuster during winter break and get the car fixed(I need my car to get to school). Do you think the body shop would also do my bumpers for free?

& thanks gearbox, I might try that tomorrow along with quixx scratch remover (heard some really good reviews) on some of the smaller stuff

They won't fix it for free, but they will fix it for a lot less than normal since the car is already all masked off and in the paint booth. Basically, a lot of the normal prep work is done on the ICBC claim.

Search around before you pick a body shop, a friend and I have both used Precision Auto Body in Langley for our ICBC claims and they did an unbelievable job on both cars.

I have gotten the little bottles from www.touchuppaintonline.com to touch up a bunch of chips on my hood, which matched really well. it's hard to say if it will work for you, it all depends how big your scrapes/scratches are.
