Civc Automatic Transmission

Hello...I am going to be looking for a new car sometime soon, and I like the 2001-2003 Civics. I want an automatic because I am not a manual transmission guy, and I know they have issues...I have plenty of mechanical abilities, so fixing it is not an issue...

What I want to know is what goes wrong? Where to get a rebuild kit? And after rebuilding it will I continue to have more problems...?

Or was it just a Honda material factory defect and after rebuilding it I will not have the same issue again.

Ive read that commonly its the 2nd gear clutch pack wearing out, so I hope if it does then I can just rebuild it and the parts will be better quality and last longer. I know I shouldn't worry about things like this, but I don't want to be rebuilding a transmission every year. It also seems these cars shift at like 5K RPM and that to me is weird...but it seems to be normal for these cars from what Ive heard.

Sorry for ALL the questions...

Re: Civc Automatic Transmission

i think you will be fine using the TCI master racing overhaul kit as it replaces all the clutches with hi performance version. it should not break again if you do it right yourself. most trans do not hold up after a rebuild due to poor mechanics skill. the original trans fails due to defective parts. usually shops will either swap in another used trans with the same problem or try to rebuild it with generic parts and fail miserably.
