94 civic no check engine lightr
i was informed i posted in the wrong generation!
alright here's the deal.this car runs ok at idle but after warming up chugs and smells like gas.above around 3000 rpm the car clears out the gas smell and runs very strong.
I have replaced plugs, cap, rotor and air and fuel filters.my daughter has replaced the fuel pump twice in three years, the first time it quit running ,the second time she was tring to get it to fix this problem. i've checked the timing belt and it's lined up perfect and is showing no signs of wear. my son inlaw put a set of used injectors in it and it did not change anythig. I bumped the timing up and the car runs alot better at start up but when warm still has the same problem. It is storing no codes on the computer?
now i have a pretty good background in auto repair but would love some input on what else to check. the Manual say's that the distributor has little replaceable parts and controlls injection timing, regular ignition timing and the vtec timing.
If i understand the vtec correctly it seems to be working fine since the car runs good above 3000 rpm? so please if you have any ideas on what to check I would really love some advise! thank you! i received 1 replay other than the wrong generation
remark! evap system? boy thats not vague is it
? like like i said no check engine light the evap system should set a code i have found no bad vacuum lines or vacuum leaks! no codes runs fine above 3000 rpm. any info on the d16 low rpm system? Dist. control module or injection or maybe throttle body sensors? Thank you for your time!

Re: 94 civic no check engine lightr
if it was a sensor or ecm problem youd have a dtc which you said you didnt. emissions on a civic is simple really. check the evap canister and make sure its routed correctly. Gas smell is either caused by exhaust leaks or from running rich. Which is similar to my problem i am having. It can be many things, even the injectors just put in. Most loikely though somewhere you are running rich whether its a spark/fuel/intake problem. The thing with hondas is usually with a vac or air leak it will rev at idle....up....and down constantly. Id say start with checking the evap canister routing, then run some seafoam...thru the gas only. If none of that works then try checkin your valve clearances and see if they are ok. If niether of those then maybe try a compression test and leak down make sure your not about to drop a cyl.
