I'm thinking about getting the pro-kit and i was wondering how long the installation would take? The guy is charging $50 CDN an hour..how much am i looking at here? Would the dealership be able to do it faster?
thanks..

Decamo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
spring installation cost should be about $100. With a range from $80-120. On our cars its supposed to be cheapest 'cause we won't have rusted out bolts and ball joints to deal with.

I think for $80 you need a hookup. Thats the price of $80 i saw on TCC when ppl asked for the cheapest place. Might be slightly higher in kingston.

I helped the guy install my Prokit a week ago. It took about 2-1/2" hours for the install. If the guy has a lift, it should only take about 2 hours. About 100 - 120 is the going rate around here for install.

Spring compressors are unnecessary for installation of lowering springs in a 2K1 civic, actually you dont need them for any civic, just place the spring on then the spring hat and compress them yourself by pushing down on it while the shock is sitting on the ground, then have a friend put on the top washer and nut, then bang it on with an impact gun, thats how it's done in a shop. The front you can do by yourself. And here is a little tip : leave the top strut nut loose until after the strut is back in the car, this way you dont have to have everything lined up before you put it back together. This trick does not work for the rear, that you just have to get lined up correctly

Just my $0.02

Swifty is right, there is no need for a spring compressor on our springs, I was shocked that there really wasn't the compression load on the springs like most cars. I had problems with one of my fronts after the install, and took the entire strut assy off, took it completely apart, and re-installed it back into the car, all by myself with no help. It's really easy.

I do a lot to my car by myself, but I don't think I want to do the springs! I live about an hour from TO and the lowest I can find to get them installed is like 200-250 CDN. I go down to Mississauga a fair bit so if anyone knows where I can get them done cheaper please let me know. I REALLY need to lower my ride now that I have the 18's on! They look SWEET!!! (spent all my $$$ on rims now I need to get it lowered for cheap)

I worry sometimes. Is forty dollars for a pair of spring compressors that much? Or even rent them at Pep Boys. Saying that absolutely no tension will be on the springs is ludicris. Not to mention potentially hazardous. Do it right, use a compressor.

Like I said all you need is an impact gun, no spring compressor.....this is doing it right.......if you are using basic hand tools a spring compressor would be handy, but with air tools it is unnecessary!!!!!!!!

the tech for eibach pro-kits say to trim the front bump stops 29mm. that's what I'm gonna do, but is there anything else that needs to be trimmed in the rear?

Bump stops in the rear need trimmed also. To 29mm or the second groove (you'll see what I'm talking about when you pull it off).
