intermittant is now permanent

hi all, I have a 1991 honda civic 2 door hatchback. For a while now it would start right up for a ride to work or store, i get to the store shut it off, go to start it again to leave and it wont start. Just turn over. When I let it sit for a few min , it would start right up. This problem (i think) led up to it stalling and it wont start at all now. It has Gas and spark which constitutes all my diagnostic capability. I did look at sparkplugs and they are in good shape

Give me more info on the car. Does the spasrk seem strong and not intermittent? How long have you been owner? During this time have you had the timing belt replaced or valves adjusted? If not start with the valvetrain. If you have then get a mechanic to do a fuel pressure check followed by compression test.

exactly what this person said. How strong is the spark? I heard on a video on youtube that the spark can be outside the car but because of how much compression is in the engine the spark would just ground out through the metal of the plug. So maybe if you have some new sparkplugs around and possibly new wires you could see if its getting full juice.
