okay so i have a 2003 honda civic lx. i bought the car with like 138000 miles on it. worked fine for a while. then sometimes, like once in 15 days, it won't start. the car will crank perfectly fine though. however, if i left it sitting for a while, like 30 40 minutes and tried again, it will start. now it has started to do this everytime i turn my car off. it wont start for 1 hour. also sometimes when i start the car the rpm shoots up to 3000 and stays there. if i turn the car off at that time, it definitely wont start. my check engine light is on, but it is only cuz the thermostat has some problem, which i doubt would stop the car from start. any clue as to what might be wrong would be really helpful.

Got the same problem, I'm suspecting vapor lock due to weak fuel pump

For starters I would get the codes read and go from there.

Sounds like you might be flooding the engine when you try to start the car.

There are so any things that could be causing your problem from TPS to IACV.

Let us know what the codes say and I'll see if I can walk you through some trouble shooting.

I have the same problem with my 01. But I have no check engine lite on. Could this be fuel or electric issue? Also the key flashes on cluster. Is it a security issue? Just found out the only time the car will start is with Honda key not keys made at walmart. Did not know about immobilizer in key.
