gas mileage goes down (usually) because when you add an aftermarket intake, you improve the airflow into the engine, both in terms of volume and velocity. since the engine is getting more air, it adds more gas to the mixture to maintain the fuel to air ratio. this makes the power go up and the mileage go down. this is the same reason that i get better gas mileage at home (denver) than i do at school (peoria, IL), because there is less air at the higher altitude.

I acctualy think that everything stays the same except you enjoy the intake to much and u floor it all the time so u could only hear the nice sound of your rocket . I sacrificed my self once and drove normaly and still did 430 miles on a tank, when I go loco everything changes and there is no economy. Try it and u will see, JUST STOP ENJOYING IT !!!!!!!!!!

i have no idea why we have 85 out there, i still use 87 cause that's what it says to use. costs the same as out here, but it's just a different grade. i've never heard about 99 octane being sold at the pumps, the most i've heard of is 93 and the only places i've seen that are out here, not in denver.

They sell 100 octane gas over here in pasedena, it cost 5 bucks a gallon though. Well i got 650 miles from my stock ex one time... i drove to mexico and back... well unless you get nos or turbo we don't really need anything other than 87 octane...
not to mention that he didn't use all 13.2 gallons. probably more like 12 gallons, which makes 650 miles /12 gal. = 54.167 MPG!!! HAHA, not unless he has a 2003 Hybrid!

na, seriously, i went to san deigo from LA and back, and i had a full tank. i was going about 90 the whole time. it accually matters how much rpm u use and how fast you are going. it is really complicated. and i used every ounch of gas in my car. when i got home. i filled up my tank and the metter said i filled my tank up with 13.3 gallons? i don't get it.but i think in reality i think our tanks hold something like 13.6 gallons for reserve gas?

i have an EX Auto, and its supposed to do 31 in city and 38 on highway, at least thats what its SUPPOSED to be, but i dont think i do more than 28 MPG average, since the car is slow enough without pushing the rpm up all the way. Plus, sometimes it doesnt actually feel like you'er speeding, when you're actually doing 90 or something like that.
and as for going to mexico and coming back on one tank of gas...... driving 650 miles... is kinda hard to believe. because if that were true in any sense, then HONDA would know of it, and would ADVERTISE the hell out of it.

Ive had my intake for a week now and I think I actually do get a little better gas mileage out of it.... but I enjoy the benefits on the new low end power band from my intake than i really should =( Darn thoes freeway on ramps.

lol, Viz mentioned this.. the 'real' reason your mileage goes down is because you drive more aggressively. the sound of the engine just makes you
