Very low idle. Pumping brake kicks it up. What's going on?

Lately my car has been idling very low. It doesn't happen until it gets warmed up but then it will idle as low as 100rpm. The needle is pretty much all the way down. It usually doesn't die although it has a couple of times. Today I noticed that if I pumped the break, it would kick up to 500-700 rpm, and then drop back down when I stopped. What's going on here?

Now after talking to some people and surfing these forums I have decided clean out the IAC valve and throttle body and see if that helps. Although it can't hurt, I am not convinced that this is the problem. Any suggestions on other things to check would be appreciated.

Pumping the brake makes the brake booster kick in and means the engine is under a bit of load so the RPMs increase in order to keep the vacuum pressure up.

It'll do it in any car - brake hard and the RPMs will go up a bit.
