96 ex clutch noise, Help!

I recently bought this civic which has about 95k on it. The clutch started to chatter when it's first used starting out,in first. It also makes a moaning noise if you "ride" it just a little as it engages. The chatter seems to go away after you drive it a few miles. The moaning sound doesn't. I don't see any oil leaks,so don't think anything got on the disc or pressure plate. The clutch doesn't slip,no noise from the throwout bearing.
Anyone have any idea what the noise is caused by? I hate to think it needs a clutch replaced already. The chatter is probably a problem with the pressure plate? Appreciate any advice.

how far down is the peddle when the clutch engages? and how much pressure does it feel like it takes when it engages? do u pull ur foot back far to engage it? or like instant kick?

The clutch pedal travel is where it should be. The noise is more like a chirp than a moan. Tom

I just had my transmission rebuild, clutch kit, syncros, and so on. There are standard "honda" chirps and transmission chirps. See if you can video it and upload it to youtube to give us a link.

Hey 'wingnut' I was going to post the exact same post about my 96 civic CX. I get clutch chatter only when cold, no clutch slip once dis-engaged, goes away after warmed up. If I drive it daily doesnt seem to happen often but when it sits for a week or so the next time I drive it the first few launches will have chatter.

Please let me know what you find out, either way I will follow this thread for updates.

i think after it warms up any gaps between parts are decreased when things expand. Do you only hear noise when you hit the clutch?
