New Member-->2000 Civic Question

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member. I have a weird issue I need help with!

When my 2000 civic se is really warm, it seems like the gas pedal is sticking. It revs really high and I need to pull the gas pedal out by my foot. I greased all the cables and pedals and it still happens. It only happens with the car is running for a long time. You think my throtle body is sticking?

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

I think your throttle body is sticking.

Lubricate the rotor and clean the gunk out where the plate touches the throat.

Any special cleaner or lube should be used in there?

Re: New Member-->2000 Civic Question

I would use brake cleaner to clean the rotor and then lube it with WD40.

Use carb cleaner to clean the plate and throat. Note that there is a stripe of sealer that's on the wall of the throat where the plate touches. It's there by design so don't scrub it off. Just clean it so it doesn't stick.
