89 Civic GSR swap

I wanted to do a GSR swap on my 1989 Civic 4dr. I wanted to see peoples opinions on this idea. Some say its crazy but, ive always been the one to
have the less popular, different , more personal car. What are the pros/cons i should look for? How should i go about turboing? And, is it crazy enough to ork?

Re: 89 Civic GSR swap

I wouldn't say your crazy but I do think your going to have a bit of fun. Motor mounts are available for most engine/tranny swaps nowadays but there are still a few shady spots... yours maybe one of them, I'd check on that first and foremost.

Other than that do some reading... I'm sure someone, somewhere has done it. Just when you think you're the first.... your not!

I say do it... nothing like a one off ride... As with turbo's.... build the motor for it, I'm sure I'll get lots of flak now from ppl saying any motor can take a little boost, hey there right... but personally a little insurance is worth every penny. You don't turbo to drive miss daisy... you turbo to out drive the guy who just blew miss daisy's doors off, so it's worth the build before you start the punishment!

Re: 89 Civic GSR swap

Thanks for your input man. I got the engine on its way its from the older GSR. i am just gonna roll with it and drop it in and fabricate as needed. im going to run it N/A until i can find a T7 to throw on after i build the top end.
