Well guys made a new DIY finally...took me forever to sift through pics for the various ongoing projects i have hahah.
anyways this one's less car related...but if you ever wanted to find a good way to shoot some steady footage of your car driving ala COPS style....check this one out.
based on John V's cameramount from hybrid honda.org

ok, so that goes on your passenger headrest correct? and if you wanted to get really cool, attach a tube so that it goes up and thru the moonroof.. or extend it more and has it stick out your driver side window

yes you could mount it backwards, you could also flip it around and mount it on your driver's side headrest as well if you'd like.
however since height adjustment is not available it's easier to mount on passenger and use the reclining of the seat to adjust height and the ball-head mount allows you to compensate for the angle of seat etc...
in fact with the ball/swivel head you can basically face it whatever which way you'd want to ...
and yes expand it to do whatever you want...film the back seat..stick it out the side window (say goodbye to mr. camera though if any pebbles or debris hit the lens) add on

Cool. Gotta look into that some time. Now you can film the po-po's too when they pull you over.

i would not suggest having your camera running when the cops pull you over...
nothing they can really do about it...
but i've heard many stories where they just harass you more cuz you're recording them etc...

Sweet DIY... I'll recommend this to my other car buddies for their cars and racing. We're trying to get a bunch of video clips together and make a movie. I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have all these DIY's to occupy my time!

the arm and everything is probably sturdy enough... perhaps an extra rubber washer on the top of the bolt for the camera mount would prevent it from coming loose due to vibrations and stuff...
if not it's pretty simple to beef up this rig.

I used it for autocross, it worx great....
The only drawbacks were that my full-coilovers vibrated the entire car too much, including the camera mount..hehe
But it was still more sturdy than a normal person holding it....and it looks cool...
