Transmission Fluid Service Choice

Help. I have a 2007 Civic LX, Automatic Transmission, 35,000 Miles. I took it to the dealer for first ATF change. Local Honda Dealer offered 3 options:

Replace Transmission Fluid - $75
Complete Transmission Fluid Exchange - $139
Supreme Transmission Flush with chemical additive - $185

Service person was vague on benefit of each. I choose the $75 option.

Can you tell me what type service Honda (not dealer) recommends. Give that I chose the least expensive option, how many miles would you recommend before next fluid change and what option should I choose.

Thanks.

Re: Transmission Fluid Service Choice

The $75 is most likely a drain and refill. About half of the fluid would be new.

Complete exchange sounds good, but may involve a flush type device being used ?? Only way I know to replace 100% of fluid.

Flush and additives sounds scary... I would not put anything in the tranny except OEM fluid.

As for the cycle dealer says 30k miles, I do it at 25k (drain and refill)

Re: Transmission Fluid Service Choice

just drain and refill, everything else you risk destroying the trans. and $50 is the most you should pay for that. fluid is $25 maybe.

Don't know about the 07 Civics, however the 09 has an inline transmission filter. If you are going to change the automatic transmission fluid in the sump at 35,000 miles also change the inline fiter.
