HELP Crankshaft bolt issues...

Hey there folks, new to the forum but have been a Honda enthusiast for several years now. current problem is trying to get crankshaft bolt loose on my 93 civic dx. d15b, the only catch is that the accessory drive pulley spins freely.(hopefully it is just a sheared keyway) is there any way to lock the motopr in place enough to break the bolt loose?

Re: HELP Crankshaft bolt issues...

hopefully you have access to the tranny side. what i always do is: thread a bolt into the block (one of the threaded holes used to hold the tranny and block together) and then use another bolt and wedge it between the bolt you threaded in and the flywheel teeth. you insert a part of the head of the bolt into the flywheels teeth and let the bolt you threaded in the block act as a stopper, so the bolt wedged in the flywheel teeth cannot go anywhere. hence stopping the crank. get it? probably not its hard to explain lol. PM me if you got questions.

Re: HELP Crankshaft bolt issues...

thanks for the help, I actually got lucky today (and not so lucky) at work. one of the guys i work with brought in his impact gun and after beating on it with the imoact gun for about 5 minutes, it came loose. bad part is....looks like time for a used low mileage replacement. car currently has 275k on it and until the keyway sheared and my daughter drove it that way for 30 miles (not her fault) it ran great. the pulley managed to do some serious damage to the end of the crank. Keyway is jacked up and splines are no longer present as well as the fact that the threads on the boly appear to be messed up also. any thoughts or reccomendations on engine suppliers ( ie, JDM etc..)?
