clutch to floor after clutch install?
clutch to floor after clutch install?
just finished a clutch install on my friends 2002 ex. everything seemed to go in fine and now the pedal goes to the floor and stays there. what could i have done while doing the install that would cause this?
Re: clutch to floor after clutch install?
Bleed the clutch line. 1. Open clutch fluid res. 2. Take piece of rubber/silicone hose and attach it to the bleeder on the slave cylinder. 3. Stick other end in the res. 4. Keep res. full and pump away. When bubbles stop coming out, the pedal should start to feel stiffer. Retighten bleeder and drive away into the sunset.
Re: clutch to floor after clutch install?
ok so i went over and bled there and bled the clutch...alot. Still no pedal. So i took the boot off the slave cylinder to find fluid. Slave cylinder is shot right? Can it just be coincidence that this happened to fail right after the new clutch was installed?
Re: clutch to floor after clutch install?
Well that would do it then. If you have fluid coming out from the boot on the slave then its shot. They aren't that expensive though. It is fairly common, especially if the slave was old and you upgraded to higher pressure clutch.
